- Client:
- London Borough Of Enfield

- Peter Barber Architects
- Cost:
- £2,500,000
Ordnance Road Enfield is an attractive development situated on a small site in the London Borough of Enfield. Much needed new residential accommodation was provided in the form of an attractive terrace of eleven three-bedroom houses facing onto Ordnance Road, with four single storey courtyard houses behind, facing a small mews street. EngDesign worked with the contractor to develop a sustainable and affordable design.
Energy Consumption
As always the energy use of the new residences was a concern. Energy consumption, and hence carbon emissions, was reduced by the use of efficient gas-fired boilers, low U-value construction allowing improved air tightness, and mechanical extract ventilation (using a centralised fan in the larger houses). The houses were also provided with photovoltaic (PV) installations to reduce their reliance on grid-provided electricity. The car parking spaces along the mews street are provided with electric car charging points.
